Hiroshima Skiing at Osorakan Snow Park

0

Enjoy skiing and snowboarding just an hour from Hiroshima at Osorakan Snow Park. Every winter, people from Kansai and Kyushu flock to one of the region’s most popular ski resorts for winter fun. On average it snows around one-and-a-half meters a year.

On powder days, enjoy some side country riding from the top of Mt. Osorakan, the highest mountain in Hiroshima. The mountain is just a 15-minute hike up from the piste.

Mt. Shinyu is a 30-minute drive away and also a popular backcountry spot. It’s a 90-minute hike to the top.

Even if you don’t ski, there’s plenty to do here like a relaxing snowshoe hike through the forest. Sink into powder snow and take time to breathe. End the tour with hot coffee and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

Learn how to build a cozy igloo with an igloo specialist. This fun two-hour activity requires teamwork and results in a lot of laughs.

At the end of the day, relax at Ikoi no Mura, the closest hotel to Mt. Osorakan. There’s a hot bath available for guests and day trippers. Enjoy local cuisine including Hiroshima’s famous oysters. There are also several minshuku inns around the Sandankyo Gorge where Osorakan Snow Park is located.

Osorakan Snow Park is an hour drive from Hiroshima City, where the Peace Park and Atomic Bomb Dome memorial is located. Don’t leave without trying the regional favorite Hiroshima-Yaki.

The best way to get to Osorakan Snow Park is to take the bus from Hiroshima City’s bus terminal. We also recommend renting a car to explore the area more.
